The Juan Bautista Community Garden is developing complexity with the season. In May there is corn, already higher than knee-high well before the 4th of July (a measurement I recall from growing up on a farm). The lettuce looks crisp and the strawberries are ripening. Each plot in the garden has a different personality–some have only vegetables while others have more exotic plants. See the pictures here.

A February Garden
Even with our Mediterranean climate, I wasn’t expecting much when I strolled over to the Juan Bautista Community Garden on Valentine’s Day. There were lovely artichokes, cabbage, lettuce, lavender, and all sorts of other pretty plants.
